Meizu Pro 6 specs
The report out of China gives us a pretty good idea of what the Meizu Pro 6 specs could look like. The report states that the device will be launched with two different versions. One is the high-end model with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage and the lower-end could come with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. The smartphone was originally rumored to contain the Exynos 8890 flagship chipset that we've seen in the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. But at a MediaTek event, Meizu announced the Meizu Pro 6 will be the first smartphone to use the Helio X25 chipset.
The Helio X25 is an enhanced version of its predecessor, the Helio X20. The X20 supported 4K video and fast charging via Pump Express 3.0+ but had the problem of overheating and eventually shutting down.
The Helio X25 is reported to have a faster GPU (850 MHz vs 750 MHz) and the cores boosted from 2.3 GHz to 2.5 GHz. The core configuration is still the same as the X20 so it's not clear that the overheating problems have been addressed with this new chipset.
It's also possible that we could see a fast charging system and Meizu's Flyme 6.0 OS.
In mid-March, we saw detailed specs leak through benchmarking site GFXBench, which provided the Meizu Pro 6 with a 4.6-inch screen bearing 1,080 x 1,920 resolution. We can also see confirmation of the boosted, 2.5 GHz deca-core Helio X25 processor. 4 GB of RAM is also listed, along with 32 GB of internal storage.
The device's rear camera is said to be 20 MP, and the front-facing selfie snapper gets 5 MP.
All of this is running Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
Meizu Pro 6 release date
A report from China states that the Meizu Pro 6 is going to be released in August of 2016. Its predecessor, the Pro 5, was released in September of 2015 so this lines up with previous Meizu launches. We hope to hear more information from the company in the following months.Meizu Pro 6 price
We currently do not have any pricing information for the Meizu Pro 6 but the Pro 5 was in the US$500 range, depending on the options. Since the specs rumors from a report obtained by GizmoChina show the new flagship possibly having similar specs as the Pro 5, we could assume the pricing will be in the same ballpark.Meizu Pro 6 design
Our first reported look at the Pro 6 reveals a very similar design to its predecessor. The large rear camera module remains intact, as does the appearance of the front panel's home button and fingerprint scanner. The only notable difference is that the Pro 6 appears to have a reduced bezel size, almost to the point of extinction, making the screen-to-body ratio more appealing. What do you hope to see in the Meizu Pro 6?
