Best for individual words: PONS

PONS Online Dictionary is a dictionary with translator functions, which means it can give you in-depth descriptions of words. Words often have several meanings, so PONS gives you a few options displayed in a simple interface. You need to find out which way the word is meant to be used in order to get the right translation and PONS is great at helping you figure this out.
PONS is also great for finding and translating phrases in which to use these words. A suggested phrase for 'current' is 'this version is current,' which is immediately translated on the other half of the screen. This gives you a better understanding of the word in both languages.
